-- A working group creating community "ownership" in a sustainable future -- Anyone Can Join CIP Efforts Sharing & living lightly... The Community Involvement Project (CIP) is an ongoing working group effort, established in November 1998 to facilitate community "ownership" in sustainability. It exists to build capacity in the community through support for all community sectors: especially not-for-profit groups, low-income and marginalized individuals of all cultures, with special attention paid to youth and seniors, and the activities of businesses that are working towards strengthening our community in critical areas. CIP volunteers work on all issues that fall under the umbrella of sustainability, including: empowerment of individuals and development of community self-reliance; sustainable local economic development; food-security; emergency preparedness; sustainable neighbourhoods; and community strengthening at our weakest local societal links. Its community strengthening networks and grassroots organizing (including, especially, low-income people) examine co-operatives, micro-enterprise, alternative media, neighbourhood governance, simple living, enviro-housing, human change and education. Throughout the past five years, over 260 volunteers working in various needs assessment and project development focus groups have created over 160 new and up-coming projects in order to respond to these universally found community needs. Many more projects are always welcome.
CIP Beliefs and Principles Mission Statement
Our mission is to create and support new grassroots and neighbourhood projects that will lead to the common vision of a positive sustainable future. We catalyze environmental and social planetary healing through the liberation of individual passions and personal life-path choices. We freely share "success stories", models and inspirational actions, collected to facilitate positive change in communities everywhere. We recognize the value of EVERY individual action or contribution in creating a world of "all-for-oneness" that we wish to see as our collective future.
