Social purchasing portal benefits companies and community
VANCOUVER, BC, Jan. 26, 2004 (Village Vibes) - The Toronto CED Learning Network, in partnership with CEDTAP, LEF and Fast Track To Employment of Vancouver's Downtown East Side, is launching the Social Purchasing Portal. The portal is a marketing mechanism for participating social enterprises and companies that commit to hiring hard-to-employ people. Any outside company already planning to spend money on catering, printing, courier, or a range of other services can spend it at a Social Purchasing Portal company and give someone a hand up without any extra effort. ... There will be an information session in Toronto on February 9th, 2pm to 4pm, at The Social Planning Council of Toronto. Homelessness Radio Broadcast Marathon
VICTORIA, BC, Jan. 26, 2004 (Left Coast News) 0 A Homelessness Marathon, a 14-hour radio broadcast,
will begin at sunset on February 12 and continue through sunrise the next day. It will originate from the streets of Montréal and will include panel discussions, an open microphone, short pre-produced pieces, and live call-ins via a toll-free number. Canada will link up with the US based Homelessness Marathon broadcast (now airing for its seventh year) for at least one hour. This Marathon will provide an opportunity for homeless people and their advocates to have a nationwide discussion.
