Social Change / Planned by youth for youth

You are invited to attend Child and Youth Friendly Calgary’s 7th Annual Empty Bowls event!
CALGARY, AB, Apr. 2004 (Child and Youth Friendly Calgary) - On May 3rd, Calgary residents are invited to attend the Empty Bowls event. Empty Bowls is a project that involves children, youth and adults. Over the last two months, teams of youth volunteers have created beautiful ceramic bowls, generously supported by the Wild Flower Arts Centre and Ceramics Canada. The evening consists of a modest dinner of home-made soup and bread, interactive activities and the knowledge that people can make a difference in the lives of others. At the end of the evening, guests take their bowl home as a reminder of homeless youth in the city. Tickets for the event are $15 for one ticket, $25 for two tickets or $35 for 3 tickets. Proceeds raised will support EXIT Community Outreach, a storefront outreach service of Wood’s Homes that assist young people who have run away, or at risk of self-harm or prostitution. Approximately 23 agencies in the Capital Region of BC are participating and every six months we release a report. These are available on our website. The reports are not demonstrating "success" though we are tracking new collaborations as well as the reduction in services.
