Alleviating Poverty
CORTES ISLAND, BC, Aug. 26, 2004 (Hollyhock Leadership Institute) - Greetings: Sept. 20-25th, 2004 ecovillage/community enthusiasts will be meeting at Hollyhock, Cortes Island. Among those presenting will be two winners of the UN World Habitat Award. You are welcome to join us as we look at integrated models of sustainable development: "Ecovillages", while exploring ideas of an international ecovillage event and a N. American cooperative. "The study and application of the ecovillage model is not only for ecologists. The model must be presented in a systemic way, in a non-linear methodology to generate a critical mass and a point of transition. Ecovillages can take people out of poverty and create jobs through the sense and spirit of community. Ecovillages can restore human dignity in a profound way." (Fritjof Capra, Fundacao Gaia) Please visit our web site: http://www.ecovillage.org/conference/index.htm. Post Conference Events include: "Ecovillage Design" at Kakwa Ecovillage http://www.kakwaecovillage.com/workshops.htm. Best regards, Russ Purvis,Chair

Study Available on Managing Major Donors
VANCOUVER, BC, Aug. 29, 2004 (Charity Village, Newsbytes) - The UK-based Institute for Philanthropy has made available a study it conducted last year on how charities manage their relationships with major donors. It recommends that they regard major donors as individual clients and give more back to them. Frictionless Fundraising
SEATTLE, WA, Aug. 2004 (Nonprofit Online News) - We've been very pleased with the success of our recent Frictionless Fundraising workshops, seminars, and publications. It's very clear that people want an opportunity to radically transform their fundraising by applying these ideas to take advantage of the internet. Today we're announcing the next opportunity to do just that. In October we are offering a two and a half day Frictionless Fundraising Intensive workshop: Date: Oct. 20th-22nd, 2004. Times: 20th: 2-5 pm, 21st & 22nd: 10 am - 4 pm. Location: Seattle, WA, USARegister Now: http://gilbert.forms.soceco.org/75434/. The goal of the workshop will be to facilitate rapid improvement in your organization's use of the internet for fundraising. Because of this focus, we are taking two unusual steps: (1) We are offering very steep discounts for sending groups of people from your organization. We have learned that this has dramatic effects on the adoption rate of new techniques. (2) We are asking some additional questions as part of the registration process. We want to make sure that you are in a group of peers who are ready to use these ideas. For more information, including a full list of workshop outcomes, go to: http://www.gilbert.org/programs/workshops/ff/current.
