Why A Livable Neighborhood Program?
WEBSITE Reference, Oct. 30, 2004 (Empowerment Institute) - Much has been written about neighborhoods as the organizing principle in community development. This is where concerns about quality of life are tangible and a sense of pride is easily established. As a consequence, initiatives designed to work at the neighborhood level have great potential to capture peoples’ imagination and sustain participation. Neighborhood initiatives are also attractive because they awaken a sense of community. http://empowermentinstitute.net/files/LNP.html.

Climate Change...did you know?
CALGARY, AB, Oct. 14, 2004 (Pembina Institute, Climate Change Quarterly, Fall ’04) - Insulation slows heat escape from your home in the winter, and heat from entering in the summer. Recommended levels of insulation are: • Attic R-40 • Basement walls R-12 • Above ground walls R-20. INTERNET HOTLINK - The Power Smart Energy Library is an excellent source of information on insulation, draft proofing, home heating, lighting and more — complete with step-by-step instructions and images. www.bchydro.com/powersmart/tips/.
