Pedal Fusion: A Celebration of Vancouver's Vibrant Bicycle Community
ELIST, Jan. 19, 2006 (Work Less Party) - Climate change is happening, energy prices are rising and grid lock traffic is getting worse. So what are you going to do about it ? Ride your bike ! In Celebration of Vancouver's most inspiring champions for the environment. The Work Less Party is throwing a party for Vancouver's bicycle community. When: Jan 27th doors open 7:30. What: From 7:30 - 9pm we are showing bike movies. 9pm - 2pm there will be DJ's, live bands, and burlesque (both male and female). Where: Anza Club, #3 West 8th Ave. Money raised will go to helping with the legal expenses of the New York Critical Mass riders. Poster: http://goatvirus.com/knapsack/images/pedalfusion.jpg. The exact agenda is still being worked out and we welcome your input. We are also working on the logistics, costs, financial support, and we will be updating you early and often as we set the details. Further, you will soon receive more information about the CoopZone Developers’ Network, and how it will work with existing co-op developers’ networks. Hot Off the Press and Increasing Our Local Economy are New C$ Bills!
CALGARY, AB, Jan. 18, 2006 (PIRG – Calgary) - Calgary Dollars will be releasing C$25 and C$50 denominations on Friday Jan 27, 2006.5 - 7 pm, Webster Galleries, 812 11 Ave SW. The currency, designed by Edwin Herrenschmidt, features artwork from prominent Canadian artists E.J. Hughes and Margaret Shelton. The bills are printed with invisible inks, unique serialization, holographic foils, machine punches, and is printed on MXM plastic. Along with the new denominations, the C$ website is being reworked and will now include a promotional video and user survey. Visit www.calgarydollars.ca on Jan 27 for all the news. The unveiling event will feature a presentation by Jim Diers, Seattle's community development visionary, and also announcement of an unprecedented partnership between Calgary's complementary currency and The Calgary Foundation. Calgary Dollars is a local currency initiative that facilitates trading of goods and services to strenghten the local economy and community.
