QUALLICUM BEACH, BC, Jan. 19, 2004 (CWMAUpdate) - The Composting Council of Canada (CCC) presents a workshop series on composting for industry. Several informative presentations are planned at the event, taking place January 26 and 27 at the UBC Botanical Gardens. Cost is $150 for CCC members and $225 for others. The UrSus Project is a student founded, lead and organized group dedicated to the promotion of efforts to institutionalize sustainability on our campus. UrSus helps find funding, staff & faculty support and resources for student efforts to establish ecologically sound and sustainabile practices. They are involved in some great projects on campus: Bio-Diesel Production, Coffee Cup Waste Reduction, Sustainability Capstone Proposal, Composting on campus, Sustainability Outreach & Awareness. NANAIMO, BC, Jan. 22, 2004 (CIP) - Reach for Unbleached! - a registered Canadian charity - working for a sustainable pulp & paper industry - empowers people to change the technology by which paper is manufactured, through consumer education and the use of accurate scientific information. We believe that people will choose to change from polluting to non-polluting products, if they are given practical information on which to act, and shown accessible avenues for that action. They believe that this action by citizens is the best hope, and maybe the only hope, for a speedy end to toxic contamination of our watersheds.
