Modern Day Noahs Race to Build Wildlife Gene Bank
E-LIST, July 31, 2004 (Earth Rainbow Network) - For over 50 years now, the environmental movement has desperately struggled against modern civilization's rush to ecological destruction, yet today we stand on the cusp of what many scientists refer to as the "Sixth Great Extinction," one caused this time not by a meteor or other "natural" disasters, but by the accumulated impacts of human activity. Like a snowball rolling down a steep hill, the evidence is rapidly accumulating - there's a limit to how much bulldozing, plowing, paving, deforestation, pollution, and other human impacts Earth can take, and we've gone over it. The situation is so bad that scientists are now racing to set up a gene bank of the world's endangered animals, with thousands of species expected to become extinct within a generation due to climate change and habitat destruction. http://www.aei.ca/~cep/MeditationFocus115.htm

Worldly Wealth: A Future Population Of 9 Billion Can Enjoy The Lifestyle Of Today's Rich Without Crippling The Environment
WEB News, July 30, 2004 (Lovearth.net / MSN BC News, by Miguel Lind) Can everyone on earth be rich? Not rich in relative terms - in a world of billionaires, millionaires would feel poor - but in terms of the lifestyle choices that today only the rich enjoy: in particular, in stuff (personal technology), space (low-density living in proximity to nature), and speed (geographic mobility). The world's population is expected to stabilise at around 9bn and then decline. Can 9bn people enjoy stuff, space and speed?

The Hopi Way
WEBSITE Reference, July 2004 (Hopi Way) - The prophecies, instructions and warnings given to us over 1,100 years ago by Maasaw can be viewed as a "Spiritual Ark" in theses troubling times. The Spiritual Ark that consists of carefully chosen thoughts, words, deeds and promises. The sharing and existence of this Ark, is what makes the giving of the prophecies understandable, and elevates the Hopi prophecies to equal, or possibly superior, standing with the rest of the prophetic field of information at this time. We are reminded that however the Instructions, Warnings and the Prophecies were given first to the Hopis, they are also meant for all of us. Maasaw would not have told the Spiritual leaders to pass on the prophecies if he had not wanted the instructions and warnings to be passed on as well. http://www.thehopiway.com

State of the World Address
WEBSITE Reference, July, 2004 (World Address Foundation) - Each year the President of the United States gives the State of the Union Address to Congress, reflecting on the condition of the country and setting out an agenda for the coming year. Given the globalizing nature of events, movements and threats, it is time to address the state, not just of the United States of America, but of the world. We propose a new, televised forum which we are calling The State of the World Address. It aims to bring into sharp focus the most fundamental concerns which the world is collectively facing and reveal sources of hope and realistic optimism that can be a force for positive change. Our goal is to create a forum for expression; to capture and share the voice of humanity as we are experiencing it today. How would it be done? http://www.worldaddress.org/pages/1/index.htm
