Community Projects

The Example Project Descriptions listed here are intended to be just a sampling of the over 160 important new community self-reliance initiatives that have been developed in working group sessions over the past five years in Nanaimo.

These Example initiatives will give prospective volunteers a taste of the kinds of projects they will be responsible for starting, in 2006 and future years. Projects listed here were all designed to foster community resilience, individual empowerment and a healthy economic basis for sustainable community development focused in the"key" understanding that:

"The core of community strength must always be SELF-designed by committed citizens around a locally-owned, secure and sustainable food & eco-system."
