Volunteer Responsibilities
You will find yourself no longer in the current accepted paradigm of volunteering. You have entered the world of voluntary, self-directed contributions, on a very large scale. The Community Involvement Project is especially designed in order to support this new paradigm of voluntary efforts towards a safer, freer world. CIP exists to bring contributions together in a supported framework for openly building the world that we DO want to see and live through. The future is what we choose to make of it -- very literally, in every case.

Within this framework, you will need to focus on cooperation and solutions, everywhere possible. While each volunteer runs his or her own universe (using the appropriate amount of control, respect for others and self-direction) it is also true that each person deliberately contributes to the greater picture of the whole, while building his or her own world. You will be expected to be extremely cooperative, responsible, always maintain the use of kind, supportive language for others and be willing to make the best of any moment or potential synergy that circumstances have to offer.

You will choose the number of hours you feel good or excited about committing. These hours can be flexible, if you want, but they will need to be stated clearly and altered only with responsible consideration and good timing for others. After that, the world is yours -- to give your best efforts and make the most of your talents, strengths and ideas, with the help and support of everyone else who is doing the same.

Do the part that you love and the rest will follow... Invest in your own future and find other people that love the parts you don't really feel drawn to. What could be nicer?

It's really this simple. With a large group, this kind of right volunteership is also much more easily accomplished than it is with any small group. You will gain fabulous training, experience and knowledge about the very community you live in and about many other communities and friends that you are going to have around the world.

Training

Core volunteers will be attending Orientation, as well as Project Leader 'sensitivity' training sessions that will be helpful to everybody, in removing biases and better understanding the lives of others -- basic needs, wants and circumstances of our society that effect all of our lives. You will begin to see how your talents and input can truly help the people around you, as well as build the kind of future you would want to see unfolding for your own and the world's children. If you wish, you will walk away with a certificate or diploma in community building skills or leadership training for a sustainable future. We will help to accommodate your own "inner" purpose / path in life, toward this goal.

As we said in the introduction, no fewer than one hundred and sixty projects are up for grabs (& many more will still be invented) for new volunteer Project Leaders and their enthusiastic assistants, during the 2005 Start-Up Phase, in Nanaimo. In true, cooperative spirit, Project Leaders and volunteer crews, assigned to each project, will have the automatic help and outreach network capacity of the leaders' Resource Team constantly at their finger tips.

Volunteer Management / Project Leaders 'Sensitivity' Training Orientation and training for Volunteer Managers, Assistants and Project Leaders is aimed at overcoming stereotypes and demonstrating the possibilities and advantages of working with our weakest societal links and most marginalized community and volunteers, hands-on, 'in the trenches', at true grassroots empowerment and self-help levels.
